Resident Evil 2 Remake

The upcoming remake of Resident Evil 2 is looking like a very exciting prospect. Not just because it looks absolutely stunning, or because it’s a remake of one of the greatest games ever created- I mean, of course, those things count too. What’s interesting, however, is that Capcom are taking every opportunity they can to, through this remake, improve even upon the original in any way they can.

That doesn’t include just things like improved visuals and altered levels, but also narrative tweaks and additions. We recently sat down for an interview with Capcom’s brand manager Mike Lunn, and asked him about what Capcom meant when they said the upcoming remake is going to offer a “deeper” narrative experience than the original, and if it is referring only to narrative being improved thanks to the better visuals, or also because the team has done some tweaking and restructuring of the original’s story.

“Definitely both,” Lunn told GamingBolt in response. “For example, there will be places in the original game, that you just drove by, or maybe just walked by, or people that you talk to maybe had a handful of sentences. You’re really going to have deeper experiences with those. Sometimes you can actually go on and play for an extended period. Sometimes you have a little bit deeper story with that person. They’re more involved than they were in the previous game. The narrative is definitely enhanced, but I can’t get into what those are, obviously.”

That seems to be in line with Capcom’s stance on the upcoming remake in general. In the very same interview, Lunn also told us about how the game isn’t going to be a faithful 1:1 adaption of the original and will be making several changes, while giving a more detailed explanation of just how it’s going to do that. You can read more on that here. Meanwhile, we spoke of a number of other really interesting stuff with Lunn in our chat with him, and if you’re looking forward to the upcoming remake, we recommend you read the full interview here.
