      这是二十世纪三十年代的一部经典恐怖片，当时有声片对于人们来说仍然是新奇的，电影制作人也在不断地试验各种崭新的讲故事的方法，影像风格常常受到德国表现主义的深刻影响。事实上，《木乃伊》的导演卡尔·弗莱伊德在三十年代还导演了另外一部经典电影《疯狂的爱》。卡尔·弗莱伊德曾经担任过弗里茨·朗的经典科幻电影《大都市》的摄影师也曾担任过F·W·瑁瑙的一些电影的摄影师和美工师。《木乃伊》明显欠下经典恐怖片《德拉库拉》一笔债。在本片中，扮演主角的是非常有才华的演员波利斯·卡尔诺夫，他把木乃伊因霍特演得活灵活现，而木乃伊的情人古埃及公主的扮演者泽塔·琼是一位著名的舞台演员，她有一张充满异国情调的面孔，也给本片增色不少。
