[Special K] Render Quality and Performance Settings SEGA Forgot - [Updated: 8/10/18]
Version History
  • 8/10/18: 0.9.24.5 - Config menu works without CEGUI; CEGUI disabled by default for compat.
  • 8/9/18: 0.9.24.4 - Fixed screenshot deadlock
  • 8/8/18: 0.9.24.1 - Fixed various threading issues with other overlays
  • 8/7/18: 0.9.24.? - Re-Compiled with AVX instructions turned off for people with older CPUs.

Introduction
This mini-plugin for Special K will improve image quality as well as adding all the bells and whistles that come with Special K.

      Current Features:
      • Option to disable first-person blur
      • Option to disable Depth of Field
      • Option to disable SSAO
Since people won't shutup about this, I should point out it's a performance option rather than img. quality -- I'm trying to cover all bases here and give players options that the developers did not.

      • Fixed the volume at start; JESUS that volume is scary!

      • HUDless Screenshots
          Default Keybind = Numberpad Minus

Download and Install
  1. Grab this archive[github.com] from GitHub.
  2. Extract it to your game's install directory (SteamApps\common\Yakuza 0\media)

Configuration
Press Ctrl + Shift + Backspace to open Special K's config menu, then focus on the options under the "Yakuza 0" heading.

Troubleshooting
If the mod does not work, third-party software (especially FRAPS!), anti-virus software or Windows 7 is usually to blame.
Windows 7 has a half-dozen optional updates that you need to install to use modern software such as mine; it's easier just to upgrade to Windows 10 :P
If after closing third-party software the game still does not start, please paste logs/dinput8.log, logs/modules.log and logs/game_output.log to pastebin.com and provide a link in a post.

Misc Notes
Texture mods with Special K are currently unsupported due to some truly bizarre memory management problems in this game's graphics engine.

      Update: 8/5/18
A test version that enables texture mods is here[github.com].

Source Code
I went overboard with code refactoring and that stuff's not going in the master branch until I have time to validate (that's where you guys come in) software operation better :)

I was wondering if there was a way to disable some of those graphical effects without any 3rd party software.

I was waiting for this

This is embarassing, but the version I uploaded prior to your two posts had issues with saving and re-applying the settings when you restart the game :) If you downloaded the thing prior to reading this, grab it again :P

If I had to guess, since you're not providing any logs here... you're running WIndows 7? :) I hate that OS, it shouldn't exist.

Kaldaien, you should be proud to know that I updated to Windows 10, 7 blows, 10 is pretty boss.

Yep, won't start with the mod. Windows 10 Pro 64-Bits.

No log generated by Special K, but I can see this in the register of Windows:

Depósito con errores , tipo 0 Nombre de evento: APPCRASH Respuesta: No disponible Identificador de archivo CAB: 0 Firma del problema: P1: Yakuza0.exe P2: 0.0.0.0 P3: 5b5b1d38 P4: dinput8.dll P5: 0.9.24.0 P6: 5b63b72f P7: c000001d P8: 0000000000009736 P9: P10:

Yay :)

Windows 7 is actually Windows Vista with a candy shell. I mean that with the utmost sincerity. It actually didn't really fix anything that was wrong in Vista, what it did ... was re-launch Vista with a new name after enough time had passed that most hardware had stable Vista drivers. Microsoft's been pulling the wool over everyones eyes for a long time.

Win7 needs another service pack desperately, and if it doesn't get one, then Microsoft should hurry along its end-of-life and pull the plug officially.

Ugh, that's impossible to debug. You could try renaming the DLL to dxgi.dll or d3d11.dll if some third-party software is screwing stuff up. I'm completely in the dark here with none of my logs even spitting out a single line :-\

----

Shot in the dark, if you right click dinput8.dll and select Properties, do you see a checkbox that says something like "Block this DLL?".

Sometimes that happens when you get a DLL that was compiled on a different computer. Obviously you need to uncheck that box if it's there.

This might be repetetive from previous games but is it possible for this awesome mod to be compatible with Reshade?

Use Global Special K for that. It has a custom version of ReShade that will work better.

Grab this: https://github.com/Kaldaien/SpecialK/releases/download/sk_0_9_0/SK_0_9_24.7z

Then take the PlugIns directory and extract it to: Documents\My Mods\SpecialK

Then go in-game, open the SK control panel, select Plug-Ins / Unofficial, and select ReShade. I think early load order is what you'll need.

Can we:
Disable first-person blur
Disable Depth of Field
Disable SSAO

in the Global version as well?
Thanks for this fixes!
