在《童话的子民》的世界里，收集资源，就是收集汉字字牌资源。万物都有其对应的汉字，所有的矿产，植物，怪物都以汉字的形式存在，所有的材料在收集后，也都会成为汉字卡牌存在你的背包里。


在《童话的子民》中，汉字资源的加工也不遵循常见的游戏形式，你需要把已有汉字拆开获得新单字，或者把两个单字合并获得新汉字。比如，把蜗牛的“蜗”字拆开即可获得“虫”和“呙”，然后把“呙”和“金”合并成“锅”，就得到了一口神秘的大锅。


当你遇到一些野生动物或者怪物时，你需要和他们展开战斗，战斗也离不开你手中的已有的汉字卡牌。在游戏中，战斗是回合出牌机制，每回合你与对方可以各出一张卡牌，当卡牌池中凑字合并出技能字牌时，所有可合并的字会同时合并，从而使用字牌技能。比如你出牌“丝”字，蜘蛛出牌“口”字，在下一次第二回合时，当你出牌“交”字，所有可合并技能的字牌可以同时合并，卡牌池中就可以同时合并出“绞”与“咬”，对蜘蛛造成伤害。


《童话的子民》还为想要娱乐的休闲玩家提供了家园系统，种田养鱼烹饪，丰富的玩法等你来体验。你可以在游戏中培养一些花圃种植食物，木材或药材，比如“梨”、“笋”等等，确保自己稳定的资源产出，也可以在河边垂钓后将收获鱼苗放养在池塘。当然，如何动脑规划你的家园，确保资源可以最大化利用也是一个不小的难题。
