Obviously the most distinguishing difference between this and its progenitor is the fact that Medieval: Total War takes place in a Europe still firmly entrenched in the Dark Ages.
EA's executive vice president of global publishing and brand management, Kathy Vrabeck had this to say,
- "Creative Assembly created a truly innovative and compelling real-time strategy game with Shogun: Total War. With the improved graphics, more intuitive controls and classic historical scenarios in Medieval: Total War, we intend to springboard the Total War brand into the preeminent historical based RTS franchise in the industry."
Quite the ambition. But with the ability to command, as one of twelve world powers, aspects of trade, diplomacy, resource management, and wars over varied terrain with 10,000 troops at your fingertips, the game is certainly on the right track. The promised 70 hours of play helps.
An exact release date, and still more information, should be forthcoming.
